We know that parental engagement is consistently associated with student’s success at school and the impact of Covid-19 has made it even more important that schools help parents/carers to become more involved in their children’s learning. However, according to the Education Endowment Foundation fewer than 10% of teachers have undertaken CPD on parental engagement. It’s one of those things where it can be hard to know where to start and to find out what will work in our school.

This 90 minute session will draw on examples from research and practical tips for communicating with parents/carers, creating a sense of belonging and helping them to support their children’s education at home. We will also examine how parents can be supported through attendance and behaviour difficulties.

The workshop will take place over Zoom and is designed for senior leaders and staff seeking manageable strategies for working with parents to enable their children to thrive at school.
