Parents and Carers: Resources
This project aimed to create resources for parents and carers which explain the options for young people post-16 and post-18, celebrate positive role models through case studies, and share labour market information.
Two students in Years 12 and 13 were employed to develop the resources, enabling the content to match the needs of students and their parents and carers. A postcard summarising opportunities was printed and delivered to all partner schools and colleges. The guide has been drafted and will be ready for launch in December. Printed copies will be disseminated to all schools and online versions will be added to the Hello Future and SkillsFest websites, with further dissemination via a social media campaign.
This project aimed to survey parents and carers in the target wards for their feedback and ideas, create a bank of case studies and communicate opportunities through film and social media campaigns.
Parents and Carers: Marketing
121 parents completed the survey, 32 of whom live in CCOP wards. A detailed analysis of results was distributed to all partners to help shape future projects. All parents and carers who requested copies of the guide will have one posted to them. A further two students were recruited to support the production of a series of films to raise awareness of higher-level study and to share case studies. A variety of films are in development and will be launched in December, including: 1) An overview of the options after Year 11, 2) An overview of the options after Year 13, 3) Higher apprenticeships explained, 4) What employers are looking for, and 5) Individual case
studies of employers and students studying higher-level qualifications. These will be disseminated via schools and colleges, websites and social media. The SkillsFest website has also been developed to promote the events in Furness and South Lakes and also provide a space to connect people with opportunities. All film content will be added to the website, which is continuing to be developed and expanded: www.skillsfest.co.uk.
