About Hello Future
Hosted by the University of Cumbria, Hello Future brings together a network of schools, colleges, universities, and employers across the region. Our mission is to raise aspirations, widen participation, and support young people in making informed decisions about their education and career pathways.
Current Projects
Outreach: We have Outreach Officers, based in West Cumbria, Barrow-in-Furness, and Carlisle, who work directly with local schools, colleges and regional partners to deliver tailored, high-quality outreach. They build strong partnerships to support young people in exploring education and career opportunities offering;
- Targeted and strategic outreach activities in schools and colleges
- Impartial information, advice, and guidance about higher education
- Free workshops, e-courses, and events focused on skills, progression routes, and career development
- Regionally based collaborative projects that address local challenges and promote inclusive opportunities
Breaking the Mould : A project aimed at Year 8 boys in rural Cumbria, challenging gender stereotypes and broadening awareness of education and career options.
Let’s Read : Designed to improve literacy and study confidence among Year 7 students in Barrow and Carlisle, with measurable impact and national recognition.
Hello Future is committed to working with educators, parents, carers, and community partners to ensure that every young person in Cumbria has the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
Hello Future is the regional partnership for Cumbria within the national Uni Connect Programme, funded by the Office for Students (OfS).
