The application process
Now that you have a better idea of what type of apprenticeship you want, lets move on to how you go about getting that dream apprenticeship!
Applying to apprenticeship can be a varied process, and can involve a number of tasks:
1. CV & Cover Letter
This is probably the most common type to apply to apprenticeship scheme. A CV and cover letter are two separate documents used when applying to jobs. A CV is a document which nicely summarises all of your education, experience and skills to a company. This is often paired with a cover letter, which is a letter which acts as a personal introduction and helps to sell your application. It allows you to explain in more detail why you are applying to the role and why you think you’re the perfect fit.
2. Application Form
Again, this is exactly what it says on the tin. With an application form you are required to fill in all the details asked for and answer any questions involved with the most detail.
There are numerous different styles of test. The most common include a job knowledge test, psychometric (skills, knowledge and personality) and aptitude (ability and personality).
